She/Her/Ella
I am the proud daughter of two individuals that migrated to California in the early 1990s. My parents raised a family of seven by working most of their lifetime in the fields.

I am the first in my family not to follow the traditional role of a woman in my Mexican culture. I went off to college! Community college was the first place I explored my identity as a first-generation college student and what that meant. Throughout college and engaging with my family members, I struggled to find a balance between making my own decisions and the guilt for living my life differently from my cultural expectations.

Now, I accept the power to steer my life in any direction and still participate in areas of my culture that fulfill me and give me joy. With that said, I believe everyone should have a safe space to heal, live authentically, and work through life’s difficulties without judgment.
